This webinar was hosted by the NewSTEPs Short Term Follow Up Workgroup on November 13, 2017. It features a state spotlight on the California newborn screening program followed by presentations on the parent experiences with short term follow up from Allison Wood, parent of a child with GA-1 and member of the Consumer Task Force on Newborn Screening, and Natasha Bonhomme, Chief Strategy Officer at Genetic Alliance and Director of Baby's First Test.

The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) collaborates with the Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) to implement the Newborn Screening Technical assistance and Evaluation Program (NewSTEPs). NewSTEPs is a national newborn screening resource center designed to provide data, technical assistance, and training to newborn screening programs and assist states with quality improvement initiatives. It functions with the goal of improving outcomes for newborns by facilitating newborn screening initiatives and programmatic outcomes to improve the overall quality of the newborn screening system.
